Key Responsibilities

Job Summary 

In accordance with the policies, procedure and standards of The Lind Hotels, under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Duty Engineer is responsible for effective operations and maintenance of all operational equipment, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation system of the resort as well as its building decoration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe and continuous operation of all systems in the resort at all times, i.e., power, water, sewerage, air conditioning, steam, etc;
  • Immediately reports any irregularities and any unusual occurrences with respect to equipment and personnel to the Facilities Manager;
  • Ensures good housekeeping and orderliness of all working area of the Engineering department;
  • Ensures sufficient generation of energy and utility, power, water, steam, air-con, etc. (i.e. shut-off any equipment / system in excess of actual requirement of the hotel;
  • Monitors the utilities consumption, and takes proper corrective action as to any abnormal variances;
  • Constantly monitors the actual level of externally-sourced utilities i.e. LPG and diesel, ensure sufficient availability and prompt ordering;
  • Receives repair works in his shift to be done by Maintenance request form or by telephone call and rectifies as soon as possible. If the job cannot be done or finished within his time schedule, Maintenance request must be transferred to the next shift for completion or rectification. Heavy works must be transferred to Repair and Maintenance group through Maintenance Request form;
  • Conducts periodic tests and inspection of safety equipment and alarm system with the Facilities Manager and Security Manager;
  • Responds to emergency call and leads emergency brigade to contain situation;
  • Plans, organizes, directs, controls and supervises the works of his subordinates in his shift, ensuring that they are carrying out the basic functions of their positions;
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Facilities Manager;
  • Ensure that all work orders assigned are attended to and will have proper turn over to the next shift duty engineer;
  • All reports from respective technicians will be reported to logbook of Duty Engineer Report;
  • Proper turn over to incoming Duty Engineer / shift;
  • Ensure compliance of subordinates to established safety procedures including but not limited to the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • Practices and role-models the Guiding Principles and the Core Values of Filipino Hospitality;
  • Be environmentally friendly, reduce waste, recycle when possible, and reuse whenever applicable.
  • Lead in monitoring and promoting all Department of Environment and National Resources and Local Government Unit ordinances to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

  • Professional Electrical or Professional Mechanical or Civil Engineer, Pollution control Officer,
  •    Certified LPG Technician, Fire safety training;
  • Bachelor of Science, Diploma or college degree in Electrical or Civil engineering preferred;
  • Proficient, at an advanced level, with computers and relevant computer programs;
  • Must be dependable;
  • Must be mature and flexible with the ability to maintain calm in stressful situations;
  • Must take pride in The Lind Boracay standard of excellence;
  • Must be guest service oriented;
  • Must be able to work efficiently with a variety of people;
  • Must be extremely safety conscious;
  • Must be able to work overnight, weekends and holidays.

Experience

  • Experience in a 5-star or luxury hotel;
  • At least 5 years of related experience in a hotel or resort operations;
