Key Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Landscape Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the full scope of landscaping operations at The Lind Hotels. As a senior member of the Engineering and Grounds team, the role ensures that all gardens, lawns, outdoor features, and natural surroundings reflect the resort’s luxury standards and brand aesthetics. The Landscape Manager plans and executes strategic landscaping initiatives, drives sustainability practices, and leads a team of Team Leaders and Gardeners to create and maintain serene, picturesque environments that elevate the guest experience. This role combines horticultural expertise, project management, and strong leadership to deliver well-curated and well-maintained outdoor spaces throughout the resort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a long-term landscape strategy aligned with the resort’s brand identity, seasonal priorities, and guest experience goals.
- Design, review, and execute landscaping projects—including new installations, renovations, and enhancements—ensuring visual harmony and ecological sustainability.
- Recommend and select plant species, design themes, and green spaces that support local biodiversity, are climate-appropriate, and require minimal resource inputs.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Landscape Team Leaders and Gardeners; oversee daily operations, work schedules, task delegation, and performance standards.
- Provide ongoing training, coaching, and skills development to ensure professional growth, high productivity, and alignment with safety and service standards.
- Foster a culture of responsibility, environmental stewardship, and attention to detail across the landscaping team.
- Ensure all landscaped areas—gardens, lawns, hedges, water features, and walkways—are kept clean, healthy, vibrant, and safe at all times.
- Implement efficient maintenance schedules for watering, pruning, fertilization, pest control, and plant replacements.
- Supervise the care and upkeep of landscaping tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring preventive maintenance and optimal functioning.
- Drive the resort’s eco-conscious landscaping practices by promoting the use of native species, composting, organic fertilizers, water-efficient irrigation systems, and integrated pest management.
- Collaborate with resort management on initiatives that align with The Lind Hotels’ sustainability objectives, including zero-waste practices and green certifications.
- Prepare and manage the annual landscaping budget, controlling costs while maintaining aesthetic and operational standards.
- Evaluate and recommend procurement of materials, tools, and plant stock from reputable and sustainable sources.
- Monitor resource consumption and identify areas for cost-saving without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Housekeeping, Events, and other departments to align landscaping schedules with resort operations and events.
- Act as the main point of contact for guest feedback, media features, or special requests related to outdoor areas.
- Support the delivery of curated guest experiences, such as garden tours, themed events, or wellness programs that feature the landscape.
Required Qualifications
Required Skills
- Strong leadership with the ability to manage diverse teams and build positive working relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of horticulture, landscape design principles, irrigation systems, and soil management.
- Creative eye for outdoor aesthetics and resort-level design execution.
- Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in basic design tools, budgeting systems, and maintenance software is an advantage.
- Clear communicator, proactive problem solver, and committed to high service standards.
Qualifications
- Degree or professional certification in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Management, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive landscaping experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in resort, hotel, or high-end residential landscaping environments is highly preferred.
- Background in sustainable landscaping practices and tropical flora is an advantage.
